What is transfer credit?
If you have completed courses at another post-secondary institution within the past seven years, you may be eligible to receive transfer credit for your program at Wrenford Polytechnic. This page explains how to submit your previous transcripts for evaluation.
Who is eligible?
Current applicants and students with prior post-secondary education completed within the past seven years can submit a request. Courses that are still in progress will not be evaluated. Failing grades do not qualify for transfer credit. The minimum grade required is a "D" or "P".
How to submit your request
- Complete the Transfer Credit Request form.
- Arrange for official transcripts to be sent directly to Wrenford Polytechnic from your previous school. We cannot process scans or photocopies. Transcripts must be received from the sending institution within two weeks of your request.
- If your previous course does not have a direct match in our course catalogue, you may need to provide a detailed course outline from the time you attended. Calendar descriptions are not enough for evaluation.
- If your transcripts are not in English, you must include an official English translation.
Deadlines
To ensure your request is processed in time for your term registration, please meet these deadlines:
- December 15 for the Winter term
- April 15 for the Spring/Summer term
Requests that require detailed course outlines may take longer to evaluate, so submit them well in advance. If you are admitted after these dates, submit your request as soon as possible.
Fees
There is a fee of $150 for processing requests that require out-of-province transcript requests.
What happens next
Your complete file will be reviewed by the Registrar's office. If your program requires detailed course outlines, they will be forwarded to the appropriate faculty evaluator for review. This process can take up to three months during busy periods. You will receive an email when your evaluation is finished. All approved transfer credit is entered on your official student record. You can view it in your student portal.
Important notes
Transfer credit becomes part of your official student record but is not included in your Wrenford Polytechnic cumulative grade point average. Your program tuition will not be reduced if credit is granted, but your course load may be lighter.
