Ryan graduates as certified electrical engineer technician

A perfect score in the lab

Ryan, Electrical Engineering Technology, walked away from his final practical examinations with a perfect score. The achievement puts him at the top of his cohort in the Ontario College Advanced Diploma program, which runs out of the Tamarack Building on the Benchlands Campus.

His final practical assessment covered power distribution systems, industrial controls, and safety compliance. The program's chair, Helena Varga, said the result was a reflection of the student's preparation.

"Ryan has treated every lab session like a job site," Varga said. "He checks his work twice and always leads by example in the shop."

From the shop floor to the workplace

The Electrical Engineering Technology program (NELE) blends classroom theory with hands-on work in the college's engineering labs. Ryan's perfect score means he is already certified in the specific practical competencies required for his upcoming co-op work terms.

Co-op is a core part of the program. Ryan will complete three paid work terms with industry partners. His perfect practical standing makes him an early candidate for selection by employers looking for students who can hit the ground running.

What's next

Ryan plans to finish his advanced diploma in September and head straight into his first work term. He hopes to work in industrial automation or renewable energy systems.
