Priya earns cybersecurity certification while studying full-time

Industry-ready skills from day one

Priya, Cybersecurity, has earned a professional certification from the provincial industry body while completing her full-time studies at Wrenford Polytechnic. The credential validates her ability to protect digital systems and places her ahead of many peers entering the workforce.

The program at the Benchlands Campus integrates preparation for this certification directly into the curriculum. Students do not need to study for the exam separately; the knowledge required is built into the coursework and lab exercises.

What the certification means

Industry employers in Wrenford and across Ontario value this certification because it proves a candidate can handle real-world security tasks. For students, it signals that they are prepared to start work without a long training period.

"Having the certification while I am still a student gives me confidence," Priya says. "I know I have the skills to handle the problems my future employer will face."

Preparing for a career in security

The Cybersecurity program covers network defence, threat analysis, and compliance. Students spend time in the computer labs in the Kingfisher Building, using the same tools that security professionals use in the field.

Graduates with this credential often find roles as security analysts, IT auditors, or system administrators. The program also prepares students for the co-op work terms that are part of the curriculum, where they apply their certification knowledge in a workplace setting.
