Ian Fairbairn

Faculty, Power & Process Engineering

Ian Fairbairn teaches in the Power & Process Engineering department within the School of Energy & Applied Engineering. His teaching focuses on industrial power systems, fluid mechanics, and process control fundamentals for engineering technology students.

Before joining Wrenford Polytechnic, Ian worked in the energy sector as a plant engineer and operations specialist, gaining hands-on experience with thermal power generation and process plant management. He brings that practical industry background into the classroom, helping students connect theory with the realities of industrial operations.

Students can contact Ian about course content for his Power & Process Engineering classes, academic advising, or program-related questions. He holds office hours in the Escarpment Building and welcomes drop-in visits during those times.
