Program Description

Specialized welding methods for joining pipe sections in horizontal and vertical orientations.

Course overview

WELD 2400 Pipe Welding Techniques builds on the fundamentals you learned in WELD 1100 Welding Processes I. You will focus on the specific skills needed to join pipe sections in horizontal and vertical orientations. This course prepares you for real-world applications in industries such as oil and gas, water treatment, and manufacturing.

Through hands-on practice in the Tamarack Building shops, you will learn to execute root, hot, and fill passes using shielded metal arc welding. You will also develop the ability to inspect welds for defects and ensure they meet industry standards. Safety is a key component of this course, with a focus on protocols for confined spaces and overhead work.
