Covers aerodynamics, turbine mechanics, and grid integration of modern wind power generation units.
About this course
Wind energy is one of the fastest-growing sources of renewable power. In this course, you will explore the technology behind modern wind turbines, from the blades that capture the wind to the generators that produce electricity. You will learn how these systems work together to deliver reliable power to the grid.
The course covers the aerodynamics of blade design, the mechanical systems inside the turbine nacelle, and the electrical challenges of connecting wind farms to the power network. You will also look at how wind power fits with other renewable sources and storage systems.
