Introduction to unit operations, material balances, and thermodynamic principles in chemical processing systems.
About this course
This course introduces the fundamental concepts behind chemical processing systems. You will learn how to identify unit operations and perform material and energy balances on steady-state processes. The curriculum covers basic thermodynamic principles needed to calculate system properties and interpret standard process flow diagrams.
You will also explore the safety hazards commonly associated with chemical processing environments. This knowledge forms the technical base for upper-level power and process engineering courses.
Who takes this course
This course is required for students in the Power Engineering Technician program. It is also offered as an elective for other engineering technology students.
