Program Description
Advanced study of bleeding disorders, coagulation cascades, and thrombosis mechanisms.
About this course
This course explores the complex biology of blood clotting and the laboratory tests used to diagnose disorders of haemostasis. You will examine the coagulation cascade, the role of platelets, and the mechanisms that lead to both excessive bleeding and thrombosis.
Through case-based learning, you will interpret results from prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), and other specialized assays. The course also covers quality assurance for coagulation testing, ensuring you can maintain accuracy in a clinical laboratory setting.
