Programmable logic controllers, sensors, and actuators for automated manufacturing lines.
Course overview
This course introduces the hardware and software behind automated manufacturing. You will work with programmable logic controllers, sensors, and actuators to build and test small-scale production lines. The focus is on practical wiring, logic programming, and system integration.
You will learn to read electrical schematics, select the right components for a task, and write the code that makes them work together. Troubleshooting is a major part of the course, so you will spend time diagnosing faults in simulated and physical setups.
Who takes this course
This course is an elective for students in the Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Technology program. It is open to other students with the required prerequisites, subject to space availability.
