Practical Nursing applicants must meet new math prerequisites

Clarification on Grade 12 Math Requirements

Wrenford Polytechnic is issuing a clarification regarding the academic prerequisites for the Practical Nursing program. Effective immediately, all domestic applicants must have completed Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60% to be eligible for admission.

While the college has always maintained this standard as a body truth for its engineering-technology programs, the School of Health Sciences wants to ensure that prospective nursing students are fully aware of the specific mathematical proficiency required for the curriculum.

"Nursing is a rigorous field that demands strong quantitative reasoning," said Dean Celeste Okonkwo of the School of Health Sciences. "We want every incoming student to feel confident in their math skills from day one. This clarification ensures that our applicants understand the baseline requirements before they submit their applications through the provincial college application service."

The requirement applies to both the full-time and part-time streams of the two-year diploma program. Applicants who do not currently have a Grade 12 C or U math credit must complete an equivalent course or upgrade their grade before the start of classes.

Application Timeline

Domestic full-time applicants for the September 2027 intake should note that the equal consideration date is March 1, 2027. Applications are submitted through the provincial college application service. International applicants must apply directly through the polytechnic's own form.
