Upgrades in the Kingfisher Building
The School of Computing & Academic Studies has installed new high-performance workstations in the Kingfisher Building labs, giving students faster tools for their programming and data projects.
The upgrade targets the computer labs used by the School of Computing & Academic Studies, which is housed in the Kingfisher Building on the Benchlands Campus. The new systems replace equipment that had been in service for several years.
Students in the School of Computing & Academic Studies use these labs for courses in computing, information technology, and network administration. The new hardware allows for smoother performance when running virtual machines, compiling large codebases, or processing data sets.
Anjali Deshmukh, the chair of the computing department, said the upgrade was planned to keep pace with student needs.
"Students are working on more complex projects than ever before. These new workstations will help them run their simulations and development environments without delay," she said.
The School of Computing & Academic Studies is located in the Kingfisher Building on the Benchlands Campus. The department offers programs in computer systems technology, network and cloud administration, and cybersecurity.
The new workstations are now available in the labs during regular hours. Students can access the equipment through their myWrenford accounts.
