Chloe launches pharmacy tech practice post-graduation

From classroom to community care

Chloe, Pharmacy Technician, has opened an independent medication management practice in the City of Wrenford, bringing the skills she learned at Wrenford Polytechnic directly to the people who need them most. The new service offers one-on-one consultations to help patients understand their prescriptions, manage complex drug regimens, and navigate interactions between multiple medications.

Chloe completed her diploma in the Pharmacy Technician program at the Benchlands Campus, where she trained in the School of Health Sciences under the direction of Chair Chloé Bergeron. The program's hands-on curriculum, which includes extensive lab work and community placements, prepared her for the realities of working with diverse patient populations.

"I wanted to make medication management more accessible for people who find it hard to ask for help," Chloe said. "A lot of patients have questions they don't feel comfortable bringing up at the big chain pharmacies. My practice is a place where they can sit down and talk through their concerns without rushing."

Her practice is located in the downtown area, close to the Mercer Street Campus and accessible by Wrenford Transit routes. She works by appointment only, allowing her to give each client the time they need to review their medications thoroughly.

Dr. Celeste Okonkwo, Dean of the School of Health Sciences, praised Chloe's initiative. "Chloe embodies what we aim for in our allied health programs: graduates who see a gap in community care and have the confidence and training to fill it. Her work in our simulation labs showed she had the clinical knowledge and the compassion required."

The Pharmacy Technician program, which runs for two years (four terms) and accepts students in September and January, covers pharmacology, pharmacy law, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and medication distribution systems. Graduates like Chloe are eligible to write the licensing exam administered by the provincial pharmacy regulatory body.

Residents interested in booking a consultation can contact Chloe's practice through the Wrenford Polytechnic alumni directory or by calling the School of Health Sciences office at 519-555-0170, ext. 4600, for a referral.
