Expanding clinical opportunities for nursing students
Wrenford Polytechnic's School of Health Sciences has signed a new clinical placement agreement with a regional hospital network. The partnership, announced on October 20, 2025, will allow Practical Nursing students to complete clinical rotations at three new hospital sites in the Wrenford area.
Why this matters for students
Practical Nursing students will now have access to a wider variety of clinical settings during their program. The new sites include acute care units, long-term care facilities, and community health centres. This variety helps students build a broader skill set before they graduate and write their licensing exams.
"Having access to these additional clinical sites means our students can experience different healthcare environments and develop the confidence they need to enter the workforce," said Celeste Okonkwo, dean of the School of Health Sciences. "This agreement strengthens the link between our simulation labs and real-world patient care."
What happens next
Students in the Practical Nursing program will begin rotating through the new sites starting in the Winter 2026 term. The Co-op & Career Services office is working with the clinical education team to ensure all students are placed at sites that match their learning goals and schedule requirements.
The agreement also includes opportunities for faculty development. Health sciences instructors will have the chance to participate in continuing education sessions at the partner hospitals, keeping their clinical knowledge current.
