What is Try-a-Trade Day?

Skilled Trades Try-a-Trade Day 2027 is your chance to step into the workshops and see if a career in the skilled trades is right for you. Led by instructors from the School of Skilled Trades & Transportation, the event offers hands-on introductions to several in-demand trades. You will use real tools, follow safety protocols, and complete a small project to take home.

The day is designed for high school students, career changers, and anyone curious about the trades. No previous experience is necessary. All equipment and safety gear are provided.

  • Carpentry & Renovation: Build a simple workbench and learn key measuring techniques.
