Program Description

Operation of oxy-acetylene equipment for cutting, heating, and welding mild steel materials.

About this course

This course introduces the practical skills needed to operate oxy-acetylene equipment for cutting and welding mild steel. You will learn to set up regulators, select correct tips, and adjust flame settings for different operations. The focus is on safe handling of compressed gases and proper technique for clean cuts and sound welds.

Work takes place in the welding bays of the Tamarack Building on the Benchlands Campus. You will practice flat and horizontal positions on mild steel plate and structural shapes. Basic welding joints are also covered, giving you a foundation in fusion techniques alongside the more common gas cutting processes.

Who takes this course
