Program Description
Teaches safe welding practices, material properties, and fabrication skills for equipment repair.
About this course
HVEQ 1690 introduces the fundamental welding and fabrication skills required for heavy equipment maintenance and repair. You will learn how to safely set up and operate common welding equipment, identify different materials, and apply fabrication techniques to real-world repair scenarios. The course emphasizes shop safety, material properties, and quality control.
Classes are held in the Tamarack Building shops on the Benchlands Campus. You must be 16 or older to enter the shops; under-18s need a signed consent form. Bring your own safety glasses and wear closed-toe shoes to every lab session.
