Program Description

Advanced techniques for interpreting aerial and satellite imagery for geospatial analysis.

About this course

This course builds on the foundations of geomatics to explore the advanced interpretation of aerial and satellite imagery. You will learn how to process raw remote sensing data, correct for atmospheric and geometric distortions, and classify land cover types. The focus is on practical application, using industry-standard tools to extract meaningful geospatial information from complex datasets.

You will work with both multispectral and high-resolution imagery, learning to identify features relevant to civil engineering and environmental planning. The course emphasizes the integration of remote sensing data with geographic information systems (GIS) to solve real-world problems.

Who takes this course

This course is required for students in the GIS & Remote Sensing program. It is also open to other programs in the School of Construction & the Environment with departmental approval.
