Program Description

Design and installation of sanitary drainage and venting systems for residential plumbing.

About this course

In this course you learn how to design and install sanitary drainage and venting systems for residential buildings. You work through real-world scenarios, calculating pipe sizes and slopes to handle fixture unit loads while keeping the system balanced and free of siphonage. You also practice reading and drafting drainage layouts that meet the requirements of the provincial plumbing code.

Expect a mix of classroom theory and hands-on labs in the Tamarack Building shops. You will build vent stacks, install trap arms, and test assemblies to verify proper function. By the end of the term, you should be able to produce a code-compliant drainage plan for a typical house or small multi-unit building.
