The program runs full-time over four terms at the Benchlands Campus. Classes start in September and run through the spring and summer. You will attend lectures in the afternoon and spend mornings in the shop working on real engines and transmissions. The program does not include a co-op work term, but you will complete a final project that mirrors a real-world service job. You will have access to the Falls Library & Learning Commons for research and tutoring, and you can visit the Co-op & Career Services office in the Student Union Building to prepare your resume and practice interview skills.

All applicants must pass a criminal reference check and a drug screening before beginning shop sessions.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition for the 2026–27 academic year is $3,940 per year. This covers all classes, lab materials, and shop usage. You will also pay ancillary fees of $1,125 per year, which support student services, the campus library, and athletics. If you need a payment plan, you can set one up through Student Financial Aid before each term starts. International students pay $17,600 per year. You can check your fee balance and pay online through myWrenford.

After you graduate

Graduates of the Motive Power Technician program are ready to work in busy repair shops, dealership service centres, and heavy equipment yards. Employers hire our graduates as heavy equipment mechanics, diesel technicians, mobile equipment technicians, and fleet maintenance supervisors. You will also qualify to enter the provincial apprenticeship program as a Motive Power Technician. Many of our alumni go on to become shop foremen, service advisors, or equipment fleet managers. The program's focus on modern diagnostic equipment and safety standards means you can start working on day one.

How to apply

Domestic applicants apply through the provincial college application service. You will need to upload your transcripts and a copy of your identification. There is no application fee.
WELD 2490 Welding Inspection Methods

What you will learn

Welding and fabrication are core trades in manufacturing, construction, and infrastructure projects. In this program, you will move from basic techniques to advanced applications across different metals and joining processes. You will learn to interpret engineering drawings, calculate material requirements, and follow strict safety protocols. The curriculum covers shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and welding metallurgy. You will also gain experience in structural steel welding, pipefitting, and non-destructive testing methods used to verify weld integrity.

How the program runs

The program is delivered full-time at the Benchlands Campus. Classes and shop sessions are held in the Tamarack Building, where the welding bays and fabrication workshops are located. You will attend courses in the Fall and Winter terms over two years, completing four terms in total. The schedule includes a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on lab work, and practical assessments. You will also complete courses in professional writing, visual communication, business ethics, and project management to prepare you for the workplace.

Admission

To apply, you need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or you must qualify as a mature student (19 or older by the start of classes). You must have completed Grade 12 English (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%. If you are an international applicant, you must provide proof of English proficiency through an accepted test or equivalent coursework. You can apply through the provincial college application service for domestic full-time applicants, or directly through the polytechnic's international application form.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition for the Ontario College Diploma is $3,940 per year for the 2026–27 academic year. Ancillary fees, which cover student services, facilities, and materials, are $1,125 per year. International tuition is $17,600 per year. Parking permits are $210 per term. You must pay outstanding balances before the term start date to access course materials and shop access.

After you graduate

Graduates of this program are prepared to enter the workforce as welding and fabrication technicians. Employers in manufacturing, construction, pipeline, and heavy equipment sectors value the combination of hands-on shop skills and technical theory you will gain. The program also meets the in-school training requirements for apprenticeship levels, allowing you to continue toward your journeyperson designation if you choose. Many graduates go on to work as welding inspectors, quality control technicians, or fabrication supervisors.

How to apply

Applications for the September intake are open now. Domestic full-time applicants should apply through the provincial college application service. International applicants should use the polytechnic's own application form. You can upload your transcripts and supporting documents through the myWrenford portal once your application is started. For questions about admission requirements or the application process, contact the Admissions office.

The hybrid schedule is designed to give you flexibility while still providing the face-to-face practice you need for client service and clinical support roles.

Admission

To join the program, you must hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent qualification. You will need Grade 12 English at the college or university preparation level with a minimum grade of 60%. If you are 19 or older by the start of classes, you may apply as a mature student. The program runs on a hybrid delivery model, so you will need reliable internet access and a quiet workspace for online sessions. All students must follow the college's code of conduct and privacy rules when handling simulated patient data.

Tuition and fees

The cost of this program is set for the 2024–25 academic year. 2024–25 tuition: $3,390 per year (domestic). This fee covers your instruction, use of campus computers, and access to the library. You will also pay annual ancillary fees for services like student health and dental plans, the campus store, and athletics. Payment plans are available through Student Financial Aid, and you may be eligible for fee waivers or provincial student financial assistance if you qualify.

After you graduate

Graduates of the Medical Office Administration program are ready to work in doctors' offices, clinics, hospitals, and community health centres. You will take on roles such as medical office administrator, health records coordinator, clinical receptionist, patient services representative, and healthcare administrative assistant. Employers value your ability to manage electronic health records, handle confidential information, and provide a welcoming experience for patients. The skills you build in this program also prepare you for further study in health administration or business management.

How to apply

You can apply to this program through the provincial college application service. Select Medical Office Administration and choose your preferred intake term. If you are applying as an international student, use the polytechnic's own application form. You will need to upload your transcripts and any required test scores to myWrenford.
PHAR 2470 Mobility and Transfer Safety

What you will learn

You will learn how to support occupational therapists and physiotherapists in helping patients recover mobility, manage daily activities, and improve their overall quality of life. The program covers human anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitation techniques in depth. You will study neuromuscular assessment, therapeutic exercise design, and mobility and transfer safety to prepare for real clinical environments. Courses in statistics and mathematics for health care equip you to interpret clinical data, while visual literacy and design principles teach you how to create clear patient education materials. You will also explore pharmacokinetics and how medications affect rehabilitation, giving you a solid foundation in allied health science.

How the program runs

This full-time program runs over two years, divided into four terms. All classes are held at the Benchlands Campus in the City of Wrenford. You will attend lectures, participate in hands-on labs, and complete practical assignments in the Kingfisher Building and the Corvid Hall simulation centre. The schedule is designed to build your knowledge progressively, with each term adding new clinical skills and theoretical concepts. You will work closely with faculty who have experience in healthcare settings, and you will have opportunities to connect with local health providers through guest lectures and site visits. Classes begin in September each year.

Admission

To join the program, you need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 or older by the start of classes). You must have completed Grade 12 English (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%. If you do not meet the English requirement, you can complete upgrading courses at the Academic Upgrading centre before starting. You must also pass a criminal reference check and a drug screening before beginning any practical sessions. We encourage you to apply early, as seats fill quickly each September. Visit the Admissions page for a full list of requirements and deadlines.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition for the 2026–27 academic year is $3,940 per year. This covers your instruction and access to campus labs and libraries. You will also pay annual ancillary fees of $1,125, which support student services, athletics, and campus facilities. Payment plans are available through Student Financial Aid. If you need help covering costs, you can apply for Ontario student financial assistance, scholarships, and bursaries. The Tuition & Fees hub provides a full breakdown of all charges.

After you graduate

Graduates are prepared to work as occupational therapist and physiotherapist assistants in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, private clinics, and long-term care facilities. You will also qualify for roles in community health agencies, sports and fitness centres, and government health programs. Many employers value the practical training you receive in anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitation techniques. The program gives you the credentials needed to register with the appropriate provincial regulatory body or work under the direct supervision of licensed therapists. You can explore career pathways through the Co-op & Career Services office.

How to apply

Domestic applicants apply through the provincial college application service. International applicants use the polytechnic's own application form. Part-time and continuing education students register directly through Continuing Education. Visit the How to apply page for step-by-step instructions, required documents, and important dates. You can also book a campus tour to see the Kingfisher Building and Corvid Hall labs before you apply.

What you will learn

The Practical Nursing (Part-time) program at Wrenford Polytechnic equips you with the clinical expertise and compassionate care skills required to work in today's healthcare environment. Through a mix of classroom instruction, simulation lab work, and supervised clinical placements, you will study patient assessment, medication safety, mental health support, and chronic disease management. The curriculum mirrors the full-time program, ensuring you graduate with the same professional competencies and readiness for the provincial licensing exam. You will learn to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams, while building the critical thinking skills needed for safe clinical decision-making.

How the program runs

Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate working students. The program spans four terms over two years and is delivered entirely at the Benchlands Campus in the Corvid Hall simulation centre and classrooms. You will progress through 15 courses covering health sciences, communication, mathematics, and core nursing practice. There is no co-op work term, but you will complete supervised clinical placements in a variety of healthcare settings to build your confidence. The part-time schedule allows you to maintain your current employment while advancing your career.

Admission

Admission to this program is based on first-come, first-served priority. You must hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or qualify as a mature student. Grade 12 English and a Grade 12 science course (Biology or Chemistry) are required with a minimum grade of 60%. We also evaluate prior learning and transfer credits on a case-by-case basis for applicants with existing healthcare credentials. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency. All admitted students must complete a criminal reference check before beginning clinical sessions.

Tuition and fees

2024–25 tuition: $3,690 per year (domestic). Ancillary fees of $1,125 per year apply separately. You can request a tuition payment plan through Student Financial Aid. Financial support is available through the provincial college financial assistance program and in-house bursaries if you face financial barriers.

After you graduate

Graduates of the Practical Nursing (Part-time) program are prepared to sit for the provincial licensing exam and enter the workforce as entry-level nurses. You will qualify for roles in hospitals, long-term care facilities, community health agencies, and private practice settings. The program provides a strong foundation for further education, including access to our Bachelor of Science in Nursing collaborative degree.

How to apply

To apply for the September intake, submit your application through the provincial college application service. Once your application is processed, you will receive instructions to complete the intake forms and upload required documents in the myWrenford portal.

What you will learn

In the Practical Nursing program, you will build the clinical skills and professional knowledge needed to support patient care across the lifespan. You will train in our on-campus simulation centre, where you can practice assessments, medication administration, and emergency procedures in a controlled environment. You will also study health science foundations, communication strategies, and ethics to help you work confidently alongside doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals. Throughout the program, you will complete supervised clinical placements in hospitals, long-term care homes, and community health centres to apply what you learn in real settings.

How the program runs

This is a full-time program delivered over two years and four terms. Classes and labs take place on the Benchlands Campus, with theory sessions held in the Corvid Hall teaching spaces and hands-on labs in the School of Health Sciences simulation centre. You can begin the program in September or January. The schedule is fixed, and you should plan to attend all theory classes, lab sessions, and clinical placements as required. You will also complete a final preceptorship term that mirrors a full-time practical nursing role under the guidance of an experienced nurse.

Admission

Admission to this program is first-come, first-served. You must hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or qualify as a mature student (19 or older by the start of classes). You must have completed Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 12 Science (S or U), each with a minimum grade of 60%. Once you submit your application, the Admissions office will review your documents and contact you with next steps. You can also explore prior learning assessment options if you have completed relevant healthcare training or hold a certificate in a related field.

Tuition and fees

2024–25 tuition: $3,690 per year (domestic). Ancillary fees are $1,125 per year and cover services such as the library, IT support, student association membership, and fitness centre access. International students pay $17,600 per year. You can pay your fees in full at the start of each term or set up a payment plan through Student Financial Aid. If you need help covering costs, you can apply for Ontario student financial assistance or explore scholarships and bursaries available to nursing students.

After you graduate

Graduates are prepared to write the provincial licensing exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. You will qualify to work in acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, home care agencies, rehabilitation centres, and community health programs. The program also gives you a strong foundation if you later choose to complete a bridge program to become a registered nurse. Our Co-op & Career Services team helps you build a professional portfolio, practice interview skills, and connect with regional health employers for your first role.

How to apply

Domestic applicants apply through the provincial college application service. International applicants use the polytechnic's own application form. You can upload your transcripts and supporting documents through the student portal once you create an account. For questions about the application process, contact the Admissions office or book a virtual campus tour to see the labs and classrooms.
PROC 2890 Power Plant Operations

What you will learn

You will discover how modern power plants and processing facilities convert fuels and natural resources into reliable energy. The curriculum focuses on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and the operation of boilers and turbomachinery. You will spend time in the Escarpment Building labs running simulations, reading technical blueprints, and practicing the safety protocols required in industrial settings. Your instructors, who include faculty members like Hamid Sadeghi and Rachel Lemaire, will guide you through troubleshooting equipment faults and optimizing system efficiency.

The program covers both stationary power systems and chemical processing flows. You will learn how to monitor pressure, temperature, and flow rates, and how to use control panels to adjust operations in real time. Communication and mathematics form the backbone of your daily tasks, so you will complete courses in technical writing and applied statistics to ensure you can document procedures accurately and analyze performance data.

How the program runs

This is a full-time program delivered at the Benchlands Campus. You will attend classes and labs during the day, Monday to Friday. The curriculum is split across four terms, with intakes available in September and January. You will complete 14 courses, including core technical subjects like Thermodynamics I, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer Principles, Power Plant Operations, Boiler Systems Technology, and Turbomachinery. General education courses in sustainable construction practices and creative problem solving round out your schedule.

There is no co-op work term built into this program. You can expect a mix of lectures, laboratory sessions, and group projects that mirror the workflows of a control room or a plant floor. The Power & Process Engineering department is housed in the Escarpment Building, where you will have access to the same types of monitoring tools used by industry employers.

Admission

To enter the Power Engineering Technician program, you must hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. You need a minimum grade of 60% in Grade 12 English (C or U) and Grade 12 mathematics (C or U). You must also complete one Grade 11 or 12 science course (physics or chemistry) with a minimum grade of 60%. If you are 19 or older by the start of classes, you may qualify as a mature student. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency through an approved test or equivalent coursework.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition is $4,260 per year for the 2026–27 academic year. You will also pay $1,125 in annual ancillary fees, which cover student services, library access, and campus facilities. These fees are separate from tuition and are charged each term. If you require a payment plan, you can arrange it through Student Financial Aid before the term starts.

After you graduate

Graduates are prepared to work in power generation facilities, industrial plants, and municipal utility operations. You will be qualified to operate and monitor power systems, maintain boilers and turbines, and assist engineers in optimizing energy output. Many employers value the hands-on training you receive in the labs, and the program aligns with the technical standards required by the province's energy sector. You can also use this diploma as a stepping stone toward further studies in applied engineering technology or business administration.

How to apply

Domestic applicants submit their applications through the provincial college application service. International applicants must apply directly through the polytechnic's international application portal. You can upload your transcripts and English proficiency scores through the application portal. For questions about the application process, contact the Admissions office at 519-555-0171.
