What you will learn

You will discover how modern power plants and processing facilities convert fuels and natural resources into reliable energy. The curriculum focuses on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and the operation of boilers and turbomachinery. You will spend time in the Escarpment Building labs running simulations, reading technical blueprints, and practicing the safety protocols required in industrial settings. Your instructors, who include faculty members like Hamid Sadeghi and Rachel Lemaire, will guide you through troubleshooting equipment faults and optimizing system efficiency.

The program covers both stationary power systems and chemical processing flows. You will learn how to monitor pressure, temperature, and flow rates, and how to use control panels to adjust operations in real time. Communication and mathematics form the backbone of your daily tasks, so you will complete courses in technical writing and applied statistics to ensure you can document procedures accurately and analyze performance data.

How the program runs

This is a full-time program delivered at the Benchlands Campus. You will attend classes and labs during the day, Monday to Friday. The curriculum is split across four terms, with intakes available in September and January. You will complete 14 courses, including core technical subjects like Thermodynamics I, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer Principles, Power Plant Operations, Boiler Systems Technology, and Turbomachinery. General education courses in sustainable construction practices and creative problem solving round out your schedule.

There is no co-op work term built into this program. You can expect a mix of lectures, laboratory sessions, and group projects that mirror the workflows of a control room or a plant floor. The Power & Process Engineering department is housed in the Escarpment Building, where you will have access to the same types of monitoring tools used by industry employers.

Admission

International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency through an approved test or equivalent coursework.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition is $4,260 per year for the 2026–27 academic year. You will also pay $1,125 in annual ancillary fees, which cover student services, library access, and campus facilities. These fees are separate from tuition and are charged each term. If you require a payment plan, you can arrange it through Student Financial Aid before the term starts.

After you graduate

Graduates are prepared to work in power generation facilities, industrial plants, and municipal utility operations. You will be qualified to operate and monitor power systems, maintain boilers and turbines, and assist engineers in optimizing energy output. Many employers value the hands-on training you receive in the labs, and the program aligns with the technical standards required by the province's energy sector. You can also use this diploma as a stepping stone toward further studies in applied engineering technology or business administration.

How to apply

Domestic applicants submit their applications through the provincial college application service. International applicants must apply directly through the polytechnic's international application portal. You can upload your transcripts and English proficiency scores through the application portal.
What you will learn

In the Manufacturing Engineering Technician program, you will learn how to plan, monitor, and improve production processes in modern manufacturing environments. You will work with equipment that controls assembly lines, tracks quality, and manages materials. The curriculum covers everything from basic manufacturing techniques and precision measurement to advanced robotics and control systems design. You will also develop the communication and project management skills needed to lead teams and keep projects on schedule. Labs in the Tamarack Building give you hands-on experience with welding, metrology tools, and automated production cells, so you can graduate ready to work on the shop floor or in a planning office.

How the program runs

This is a full-time, two-year program delivered at the Benchlands Campus. Classes and labs are held during the day, Monday to Friday. The program runs on a four-term schedule, starting each September. You will complete fourteen courses across four core subjects, including mechanical engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology, mathematics, and general studies. There are no co-op work terms built into this program, but you can apply the skills you learn directly to roles in manufacturing, quality assurance, and production planning. The School of Energy & Applied Engineering supports your studies with modern labs and industry-standard software.

Admission

To join this program, you must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent qualification, or meet mature student status (19 years of age or older by the start of classes). You must have completed Grade 12 English (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%, and Grade 12 math (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%. If your secondary education was completed outside Ontario, please review our international document equivalency page. Qualified applicants are offered admission on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tuition and fees

Tuition for the 2026–27 academic year is $4,110 per year. Ancillary fees are $1,125 per year, which cover student association membership, health and dental plans, and campus services. These costs do not include textbooks, tools, or personal equipment. If you need help with costs, visit the Student Financial Aid office or explore scholarship and bursary options. Payment plans and fee waivers are available for eligible students.

After you graduate

Graduates are prepared for careers as manufacturing technologists, quality control inspectors, production planners, robotics technicians, process improvement coordinators, and shop floor supervisors. Employers in the region value Wrenford Polytechnic graduates for their practical training and ability to step into technical roles immediately. The program also prepares you for apprenticeship in-school training if you choose to pursue a skilled trades credential alongside your diploma.

How to apply

Apply through the provincial college application service. Domestic applicants can submit their application online and upload required documents to myWrenford. International applicants use the polytechnic's own international application form. The equal consideration date for fall intake is March 1, 2027.

What you will learn

Automation and robotics are transforming how factories, warehouses, and infrastructure operate. This program teaches you to design, program, and maintain the intelligent machines that drive modern industry. You will work with programmable logic controllers, industrial sensors, machine vision systems, and supervisory control and data acquisition platforms. The curriculum combines classroom theory with hands-on labs where you build and test automated work cells. You will also explore autonomous mobile robots and the communication protocols that keep production lines running smoothly. Throughout the year, you will develop troubleshooting skills, learn safety standards for industrial environments, and practice reading technical schematics. The program emphasizes practical problem-solving, so you will spend significant time in the lab configuring logic sequences, calibrating sensors, and debugging communication networks.

How the program runs

Automation & Robotics is a full-time Ontario College Graduate Certificate delivered over one academic year, typically spanning two or three terms. Classes and lab sessions take place at our Benchlands Campus, where you will use equipment in the Escarpment Building. The schedule is designed for students who want to move quickly into the workforce. The program does not include a co-op work term, but you will complete a final capstone project that mirrors a real industry deployment. You will work in small lab groups, collaborating with peers to simulate production environments. Instructors bring current industry experience to the classroom, and you will have access to the same types of controllers and software used by employers today. The program runs on a September intake, so you will begin your studies at the start of the Fall term.

Admission

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years of age or older by the start of classes).

Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60 per cent.

Grade 12 English (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60 per cent. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency through an accepted test or equivalent qualification.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition for this graduate certificate is $4,680 per year for the 2026–27 academic year. This amount covers instruction and standard lab access. You will also pay annual ancillary fees, which fund student services, athletics, and campus facilities. For a full breakdown of tuition and mandatory fees, visit Tuition & Fees.

What you will learn

In this program, you will study how electrical power moves through buildings, factories, and city grids. You will learn to read complex blueprints, test circuits, and program control systems that keep modern industry running. Working in our labs at the Tamarack Building and the Escarpment Building, you will handle real equipment used in manufacturing, energy, and facilities management. You will also develop strong technical writing and communication skills so you can explain your work clearly to engineers, managers, and clients.

How the program runs

This part-time track follows the exact same curriculum as our full-time Electrical Engineering Technology program, but the schedule is built for working adults and busy students. Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends at the Benchlands Campus. You will complete the program over six terms across three years, taking one or two courses each term. The September intake is the only start date, so you will move through the sequence with the same cohort every year.

Admission

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 or older by the start of classes).

Grade 12 English (C or U), minimum 60 per cent.

Grade 12 math (C or U), minimum 60 per cent. Students who do not meet this requirement can complete upgrading through Wrenford Polytechnic Continuing Education before starting.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition is $4,260 per year for the 2026–27 academic year. You will also pay ancillary fees of $1,125 per year, which cover your student association, library access, and campus recreation. These fees are separate from tuition and are due each term. International students pay $17,600 per year. Financial aid and payment plans are available through Student Financial Aid.

After you graduate

Graduates of this program step into roles that require both technical precision and practical problem-solving. Employers in the energy, manufacturing, and construction sectors hire our graduates to maintain and upgrade critical electrical infrastructure. You will be prepared for careers as an electrical technician, power systems specialist, industrial controls programmer, maintenance technician, field service engineer, or commissioning technician. Many of our alumni move into supervisory positions within five years because of the strong foundation in management communication you build during the program.

How to apply

Domestic applicants submit their application through the provincial college application service. International applicants use Wrenford Polytechnic's own online form. You do not need to pay an application fee. Once you receive your offer, you will upload your final transcripts and proof of English proficiency to the student portal. Visit the Admissions page for a full checklist of documents, or contact the Registrar's office for questions about transfer credit or prior learning assessment.
