What you will learn

In the Water & Wastewater Technician program, you will study how communities keep their water clean and safe. You will learn the science behind water treatment, wastewater processing, and environmental monitoring. Classes cover water chemistry, hydrology, air quality, and laboratory safety. You will also take courses in project management, business mathematics, and public speaking to prepare you for real-world workplace communication. Most of your learning happens in the lab and in the field. You will practice testing water samples, operating treatment equipment, and reading technical diagrams. By the end of the program, you will know how to run a water distribution network, manage a wastewater treatment plant, and follow environmental regulations.

How the program runs

This is a full-time program that runs over four terms, or two academic years. You can start in September or January. All classes and labs take place at the Benchlands Campus. You will spend time in classrooms, computer labs, and the college's water treatment labs. You will also go on site visits to local water and wastewater facilities to see how the systems work in practice. The schedule is designed to build your skills step by step. Term one focuses on science fundamentals and lab safety. Term two moves into water systems and chemistry. Term three covers wastewater collection and treatment. Term four wraps up with advanced treatment processes, water resources planning, and a capstone project where you solve a real problem for a community partner.

Admission

To join this program, you need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or an equivalent qualification. If you are 19 years old or older by the start of classes, you may qualify as a mature student. While math is not a strict requirement for this program, having Grade 12 English at a minimum of 60 per cent will help you succeed in technical writing and reporting. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency through an accepted language test or equivalent academic background. All domestic applicants apply through the provincial college application service. International applicants use the college's own application form.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition is $3,940 per year for the 2026–27 academic year. Ancillary fees are $1,125 per year, separate from tuition. You can pay your fees in full before the term starts, or you can set up a monthly payment plan through Student Financial Aid. International students pay $18,900 per year. You can find a full breakdown of fees on the Tuition & Fees page.

After you graduate

Graduates of this program are ready to work in municipal water departments, regional conservation authorities, private environmental consulting firms, and industrial water treatment plants. You will qualify for entry-level operator positions in water and wastewater facilities. Many employers also value the project management and communication skills you will gain, which can lead to supervisory roles as you gain experience. The college's Co-op & Career Services office can help you find a work placement during your final term and connect you with job postings after graduation.

How to apply

Domestic applicants apply through the provincial college application service. You will need to upload your transcripts and any supporting documents to your student portal once you receive your application number. International applicants apply directly on the college website using the international application form. Applications for the fall term are reviewed on a rolling basis, and space is available until the program reaches capacity. Visit the How to apply page for step-by-step instructions, required documents, and important dates.

What you will learn

In this program, you will study the science behind environmental protection and learn to collect and analyse samples from the field. You will work in labs and outdoors to test water, soil, and air quality, and you will use modern tools to assess how projects affect local ecosystems. The curriculum covers environmental regulations, sustainable design, and project management so you can translate data into clear reports and actionable plans. You will also complete technical communication courses to help you share your findings with industry partners, government agencies, and community groups.

How the program runs

The program runs full-time over three years, split into six terms. Classes and labs take place at the Benchlands Campus in the City of Wrenford, where you will use the School of Construction & the Environment labs and field equipment. You will start in September and follow a set schedule each term. The program includes three paid co-op work terms. During each placement, you will apply your classroom knowledge in a real workplace, such as a regional manufacturer, a municipal environmental department, or an environmental consulting firm. There is no extra fee to participate in a co-op work term; your tuition covers the coordination and workshop support.

Admission

To enter the program, you need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or you must qualify as a mature student. You must complete Grade 12 English (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%. If you are an international applicant, you will also need to submit proof of English proficiency through an approved test or equivalent coursework. The application portal opens each year, and you can submit your documents directly through the provincial college application service. If you do not meet the direct entry requirements, you can still prepare for the program by taking the Pre-Technology Foundations certificate.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition for the 2026–27 academic year is $4,110 per year, plus $1,125 in annual ancillary fees. The ancillary fees cover your student association membership, campus security, health and dental plans, and access to the Falls Library & Learning Commons. Tuition is due at the start of each term, and you can set up a monthly payment plan through Student Financial Aid. If you live on campus, residence fees and the mandatory meal plan are billed separately. You can check your fee balance and make payments online through myWrenford.

After you graduate

Graduates are prepared to work in roles that monitor environmental conditions and help organisations meet sustainability goals. You can find work as an environmental field technician, laboratory analyst, compliance officer, remediation specialist, sustainability coordinator, or water quality technician. The program's co-op placements often lead to job offers, and the Wrenford Polytechnic Co-op & Career Services office can help you network with employers in the environmental sector. You can also use this diploma as a pathway into a four-year applied bachelor's degree if you wish to continue your studies.

How to apply

GEOM 5720 Geospatial Data Mining

GEOM 5790 Satellite Navigation Systems

GEOM 5970 Geomatics Project Management

What you will learn

You will spend the year building practical skills in geospatial data collection, processing, and analysis. The program covers the full workflow from capturing raw data using satellite imagery and mobile mapping systems to cleaning, storing, and visualising it in geographic information systems (GIS). You will work with both vector and raster data, learn to design accurate maps, and use spatial analysis to find patterns in complex datasets. The curriculum also introduces you to geospatial web services, 3D visualisation, and data mining techniques that are standard in the industry.

Classes combine theoretical concepts with hands-on labs in the Kingfisher Building. You will use the same software and hardware that employers rely on, so you can step into a professional role with confidence. Throughout the program, you will complete projects that mirror real client requests, giving you a portfolio of work to show potential employers.

How the program runs

The program runs over two terms in the 2026–27 academic year, starting in September. Because the schedule is hybrid, you will attend some in-person sessions at the Benchlands Campus while completing other coursework online. This mix allows you to balance your studies with work or family commitments while still getting access to the college's mapping labs and technical support.

Classes are held in the Kingfisher Building on the Benchlands Campus. The Benchlands Campus is served by Wrenford Transit routes 3 and 7, which stop at the Hollis Hall loop. There are several student parking lots on campus, including Lot B and Lot D, though the visitor lot requires a plate. You will need a computer with a stable internet connection to participate in the online portions of the program.

This graduate certificate does not include a co-op work term. However, the College's Co-op & Career Services office runs workshops and job fairs that are open to all students, helping you build your resume and connect with employers in the geospatial sector.

Admission

To apply, you must meet the standard admission requirements for graduate certificates at Wrenford Polytechnic. This includes an Ontario College Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a related field, or equivalent post-secondary coursework. You must have completed Grade 12 Mathematics (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%, and Grade 12 English (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60%. International applicants must also provide proof of English proficiency through an accepted test or equivalent academic background.

Domestic applicants apply through the provincial college application service. International applicants use the College's own application form. The application deadline for equal consideration in the fall term is March 1, 2027.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition for the 2026–27 academic year is $4,680. This covers two terms of instruction and access to all program labs and online learning platforms. You will also pay $1,125 in ancillary fees, which support student services, the library, and campus facilities. There is no application fee to submit your application.

If you need to spread out your tuition payments, you can request a tuition payment plan through Student Financial Aid. International students should check the International Students page for currency exchange guidelines and required deposit information.

After you graduate

Graduates of the GIS & Remote Sensing program are ready to work as geospatial analysts, mapping technicians, or data coordinators in sectors like environmental consulting, municipal planning, agriculture, and logistics. The program's focus on current satellite systems and mobile mapping means you will have the technical skills that employers are actively seeking.

Many graduates find employment through the College's Co-op & Career Services network, but some also secure roles directly through project partnerships built during the program. The skills you develop here are transferable, so you can also move into roles in data science, urban planning, or environmental management with a little additional on-the-job training.

How to apply

Ready to apply? Visit the How to apply page to review the full application steps, upload your documents, and track your application status.

What you will learn

Civil Engineering Technology is a hands-on program that teaches you how to plan, design, and build the infrastructure we rely on every day. You will work with advanced math and science to solve real-world problems involving roads, bridges, water systems, and buildings. In the classroom and in the lab, you will learn to draft precise engineering plans, analyse structural loads, and test construction materials like concrete, steel, and soil. You will also develop the communication and teamwork skills needed to work alongside engineers, contractors, and government agencies. By the time you finish, you will be ready to step into a technical role on a construction site or in an engineering office.

How the program runs

This is a full-time program that runs for three years, or six terms, on the Benchlands Campus. You will start in September and attend classes through the spring and summer terms. Your schedule includes lectures, laboratory sessions, and design studios where you put theory into practice. The program includes a co-op work term, which gives you paid, full-time industry experience before you graduate. You will work alongside professionals, apply what you have learned in class, and build a network of contacts in the field. The co-op placement is coordinated through our Co-op & Career Services office, and there is no extra fee to participate in a co-op work term.

Admission

To enter this program, you must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent qualification. You are also required to have completed Grade 12 math (C or U) and Grade 12 English (C or U), with a minimum grade of 60% in each subject. If you are 19 or older by the start of classes, you may qualify as a mature student. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency through an accepted test or equivalent completed education. For full details on admission criteria, please visit the Admission requirements page.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition for the 2026–27 academic year is $4,110 per year. In addition to tuition, you will pay $1,125 in ancillary fees each year, which cover campus services, student association membership, and access to facilities like the Kestrel Centre and Falls Library & Learning Commons. If you plan to live in residence, the meal plan for Larch House is $4,600 per year, and you will need to apply for housing through the Residence portal once applications open on February 1, 2027. Parking permits are $210 per term, and you can purchase yours through the Parking office. For more information about financial aid, bursaries, and payment plans, see the Tuition & Fees page.

After you graduate

Graduates of the Civil Engineering Technology program are prepared for immediate employment in the construction, infrastructure, and environmental sectors. You will have the technical skills to work as a civil engineering technician, construction inspector, or materials testing specialist. Many employers value the co-op experience you gain during the program, which gives you a head start in the job market. You can also choose to continue your education by transferring credits to a four-year applied bachelor's degree program at Wrenford Polytechnic or another institution. Our Co-op & Career Services office, located in the Student Union Building, offers resume workshops, job search support, and interview preparation to help you land your first role.

How to apply

Applications for the September intake are accepted through the provincial college application service. There is no application fee to submit an application to Wrenford Polytechnic. You will need to upload your transcripts and other required documents through the portal mentioned on the application page. Once you receive your acceptance letter, you will be able to pay your tuition and register for courses.

What you will learn

You will learn how to plan, budget and manage construction projects from the first blueprint to the final inspection. The program covers construction estimating, scheduling, contract administration and site logistics. You will also study safety management, procurement and quality control so you can keep projects on track and within budget. In addition to technical skills, you will build communication and leadership abilities that help you coordinate teams, suppliers and clients on active job sites.

How the program runs

The program runs full-time at Benchlands Campus across six terms over three years. You can start in September or January. Classes mix classroom theory with hands-on projects using industry-standard software for estimating and scheduling. You will also work in labs and field settings to practice site management and safety protocols. This program includes three paid work terms. You will alternate school terms with work terms in the construction industry, giving you real-world experience and a professional network before you graduate. You can track your work term placements with Co-op & Career Services on campus.

Admission

To join the program, you must meet the standard admission requirements for Ontario colleges. You need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. You must have completed Grade 12 English (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60 per cent. You must also have completed Grade 12 math (C or U) with a minimum grade of 60 per cent. If you are 19 or older by the start of classes, you may apply as a mature student. The admissions office reviews all applications on a rolling basis until the equal consideration date of March 1, 2027.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition is $4,110 per year for 2026–27. You will also pay annual ancillary fees of $1,125 for student services, technology and athletics. If you plan to live on campus, traditional residence in Larch House costs $7,950 per year. Students who drive to campus can purchase a permit for $210 per term in Lot B or Lot D. For a full breakdown of costs and payment plans, visit Tuition & Fees.

After you graduate

Graduates are ready to step into roles such as project coordinator, site supervisor, estimator or safety coordinator in the construction sector. The three paid work terms mean you will leave with a strong resume and references from employers. If you want to continue your education, you can apply to the Bachelor of Applied Technology — Building Science program or other advanced diplomas. You can also use the Academic Upgrading centre if you need to strengthen your math or English before applying.

How to apply

Domestic applicants apply through the provincial college application service. International applicants must use the polytechnic's own application form. Once you receive your offer, you will upload your documents in myWrenford. For step-by-step instructions, visit How to apply.

What you will learn

In this program, you will move beyond basic drawing to master the full design process. You will study how people interact with spaces, how light and colour affect mood, and how to select materials that are durable, sustainable, and safe. You will learn to read architectural blueprints, model spaces in three dimensions, and produce the technical documents that contractors need to build your vision. You will also learn how to manage a design project from the first client meeting to the final installation. Through hands-on studio work, you will gain proficiency in industry-standard software for drafting, rendering, and project management, ensuring you can hit the ground running in a professional office.

How the program runs

The Interior Design Technology program is delivered full-time over two years, four terms. You will spend time on both the Benchlands Campus and the Mercer Street Campus, taking advantage of the design studios in the Market Square Studios building downtown and the building technology labs in the Kingfisher Building on the main campus. Classes, studio work, and software labs are scheduled during the day, but you should plan for extra hours outside of class to work on projects. There is no co-op work term built into this program, but you will complete a capstone project that simulates a real client commission. You will also participate in guest lectures from local designers, site visits to active construction projects, and critiques where you present your work to industry professionals.

Admission

To join this program, you need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or an equivalent qualification. You must have completed Grade 12 English at the college or university level with a final grade of at least 60%. We also look for a Grade 11 or 12 Geometry course, or a Grade 12 mathematics course. Because design is a visual field, we ask every applicant to submit a portfolio of sketches, photographs, or previous art projects after you submit your application. The admissions committee reviews these materials to see your creative potential and attention to detail. If you are 19 or older before classes start, you may apply as a mature student. International applicants must submit an English proficiency test score or equivalent documentation.

Tuition and fees

Domestic tuition for the 2026–27 academic year is $4,110 per year. This covers your classes, studio access, and software licences. You will also pay ancillary fees of $1,125 per year, which support student services, the library, and campus facilities. International students pay $17,600 per year. We recommend budgeting an additional $800 to $1,200 for textbooks, printing, and physical model materials. If you need financial assistance, visit the Student Financial Aid page to learn about grants, loans, and work opportunities. You can also set up a monthly payment plan through the Pay your fees page.

After you graduate

Graduates of this program are ready to work immediately in residential design firms, commercial contracting offices, furniture retailers, and architectural practices. You will have the skills to help clients choose layouts, finishes, and furnishings that meet their budget and lifestyle. Many graduates go on to start their own design consultancies or transfer to a four-year applied bachelor's degree to broaden their qualifications. The program's focus on project management and building systems also makes you a strong candidate for roles in construction administration and facilities management.
